After ‘Avengers: Endgame’, should Marvel take 2020 off?

Movie fans worldwide are still reeling from the events of last week’s Avengers:End Game, which saw Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans bow out of the Universe that they helped create. Marvel have understandably been fairly quiet about what comes next after bringing The Infinity Saga to a close, and losing two of their most popular stars. Currently, Spider-man: Far From Home is the only confirmed title with a fixed release date, although rumours about future projects have been floating around.

But should they be so quick to keep the train rolling? Would a bit of time off to draw a line underneath the events of Endgame actually be reinvigorating for a franchise that in many ways is looking to reboot itself? Here’s why it might be a good idea for 2020 to be an MCU-free zone…

Over ten years and 22 movies later, Avengers: Endgame is finally in theaters. To say it’s the biggest cinema event of 2019 would be an understatement. The movie has garnered incredible box office success and is set to shatter countless records, proving that audiences love the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was over ten years ago when Iron Man kicked off the MCU, paving the road to where we are now. It also began the Thanos storyline as the Mad Titan set out to collect the Infinity Stones.

Here’s everything you need to know about Avengers: Endgame.

In just a couple of weeks, Avengers: Endgame is now the second highest grossing movie in history with $2,188.7 billion in sales globally. This places it higher than Titanic ($2,187.5 billion), Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2,068.2 billion) and last year’s Avengers: Infinity War which achieved $2,048.4 billion.

Avengers: Endgame Now has just one target remaining: Avatar which achieved $2,788.0 billion and is the highest grossing movie in history. What’s most impressive is how long Avengers: Endgame took to achieve this, in comparison to the rest of the movies in the top 5.

Yep, 11 days to outmatch all of them. Given Avengers: Endgame will likely be in the theaters for weeks to come, it’s safe to say that it’ll probably be the highest grossing movie in history in pretty short order!

The Rotten Tomatoes score for Avengers: Endgame has been revealed, and it’s confirmed: the movie rocks. The movie is currently sitting at a 96% (as of this writing), confirming that people absolutely love Marvel’s latest movie.

Of course, nobody needing confirmation, because millions of people around the world were going to see it anyway. But seeing a positive Rotten Tomatoes score is an affirmation that Avengers: Endgame was worth the wait.
